Job summary

First Student, Inc. seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform routine and non-routine maintenance on fleet vehicles (buses, vans) in a shop setting.

Work is under minimal supervision, with opportunities to mentor junior technicians and ensure safety standards are met. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical certification preferred.
• Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required (or expected within 3 months of hire).
• State inspection license (if required).
• ASE certification preferred; must participate in ASE testing within 1 year (3 ASE within 12 months).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair vehicles (buses, vans) per standards with supervision.
• Perform brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions repairs.
• Keep maintenance records, parts usage, and work orders accurate.
• Assist with PMs and safety inspections at prescribed intervals.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle systems under supervision.
• Support road calls and emergency services as needed.
