Job summary

First Student is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to ensure the safety and reliability of our buses and vans. This position involves both routine and advanced repairs in a structured environment with a focus on safety.

The ideal candidate will have 3 years of automotive or diesel repair experience and a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement. A vocational certification is preferred. A robust skill set is essential to perform diagnostics and repairs accurately.

Qualifications

• Expected to obtain 3 ASE certifications within 12 months of hire.
• Participation in ASE testing required within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for service.
• Perform mechanical repairs under moderate supervision.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle issues accurately.
• Complete work orders properly and order parts from suppliers.

Skills

Intermediate mechanical aptitude

3 years of automotive or diesel repair experience

Knowledge of state DOT vehicle inspection and safety standards

Valid driver's license

Intermediate diagnostic and problem-solving skills

Intermediate computer skills

Comfortable using hand tools

Strong communication and customer service skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred

Vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred

Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required

State inspection license (if required)

ASE Certification preferred
