Job summary

CarMax in Laurel, MD is seeking a Vehicle Condition Assessor to accurately document cosmetic and mechanical vehicle conditions for appraisals. You will support inventory management and wholesale operations, collaborating with Buyers, Senior Buyers, and Purchasing Managers while maintaining safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Deliver exceptional customer service and collaborate across departments.
• Follow standardized processes and maintain accurate records.
• Strong communication with internal and external customers.
• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Be flexible to work nights, weekends and holidays; physically able to walk, bend, kneel and stand.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate vehicle assessments for appraisal analysis.
• Ensure accurate optioning of vehicles during assessments and inventory updates.
• Perform high‑quality imaging of wholesale vehicles for CarMax websites.
• Complete vehicle secures and confirmations, verifying appraisal details.
• Assist with inventory management, customer transfers, and lot merchandising.
• Collaborate with team and onboard new associates to maintain excellence.
• Follow CarMax EH&S requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
