Job summary

NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking an experienced epidemiologist and data analyst to strengthen Lyme disease surveillance and vector-borne disease efforts. The role involves data management, reporting, fieldwork, and collaboration with environmental health partners and laboratories.

The position requires expertise in epidemiology, data analysis, and outreach to medical and veterinary communities, with an emphasis on data integrity and privacy.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health or related field or higher with relevant experience.
• Experience in disease surveillance, data management and reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex data clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance surveillance practices for tick-borne diseases.
• Conduct case investigations and routine Lyme disease surveillance.
• Analyze data for research and surveillance; ensure data quality.
• Maintain and report tick-borne disease data from surveillance systems.
• Lead literature reviews and collaborate with Environmental Health and other agencies.
• Supervise seasonal interns and perform outreach to medical and veterinary communities.
