Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a Public Health Epidemiologist to investigate cases of reportable diseases, conduct interviews, and support outbreak response within the Division of Disease Control.

Reporting to the Disease Investigation Unit’s Team Lead, you will conduct patient interviews, contact tracing, and health record abstractions, providing education to patients and the public. NYC residency is preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Master's in public health or epidemiology with 12 graduate credits in epidemiology (or a related field)
• Bachelor's degree plus two years of health surveillance/data collection experience

Responsibilities

• Conduct communicable disease case investigations
• Perform medical chart reviews and data abstractions
• Conduct patient and provider interviews
• Triage telephone inquiries
• Provide patient and public health education
• Identify and follow up with contacts of cases
• Assist with outbreak investigations and data analysis
