Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a Communicable Diseases Data Analyst and Program Evaluation Specialist to join the Bureau of Communicable Disease's Investigation and Response Unit. The role uses data to evaluate surveillance and investigation processes and to monitor timeliness and data quality.

You will develop metrics, dashboards, and reports; supervise staff in program evaluation and disease investigations; and support methodological improvements across data

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
• Doctorate with supervisory/administrative/research experience in the field (or equivalent).
• Experience with public health data systems and research methods.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and supervise staff in program evaluation, QA, data analysis, and outbreak investigations.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports to monitor timeliness, data quality and workflows.
• Perform descriptive analyses to identify workflow patterns and areas for improvement.
• Design data collection frameworks and surveys for research activities.
• Maintain records and promote transparency and reproducibility of findings.
• Prepare reports with detailed analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support research with agency and external partners and supervise trainees.
