Job summary

Accelera Solutions is seeking a VDI Engineer to design, implement, and maintain VDI across USAF bases. Hybrid work requires local Chantilly, VA and an active DoD secret clearance. You will automate VM deployments, build base images, and ensure secure, high‑quality user experiences.

You’ll collaborate with DevOps, developers, and security teams, participate in planning and retrospectives, and help deploy new solutions while documenting architectures and procedures.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance required.
• Microsoft Server Administrator Associate Certification.
• 15+ years of relevant experience (Bachelor’s Degree may substitute for 5 years).
• 5+ years’ experience setting up and managing cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure and Kubernetes.
• 5+ years’ experience with ADDS/ADCS/ADFS/PKI/SSO and Windows AD integration.
• 5+ years’ experience handling logs and metrics at scale.
• 3+ years’ experience with Hyper-V and VMware.
• Experience with STIGs, NIST 800-53, FISMA, FEDRAMP and IA collaboration.
• Linux admin (RHCE equivalence) or Windows Server administration.

Job description

This position is hybrid so candidates must be local to the Chantilly, Va area and must hold an active DoD secret clearance.

Accelera Solutions is looking for a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) (Hyper‑V/ VMWare) Engineer to provide a common set of required EIT services across USAF bases to implement a consistent, high-quality experience for users across all mission environments and enable USAF to transition focus from network operations to mission operations.

As a VDI Engineer, you will be responsible to contribute in the planning and lead to automate deployment of virtual machines (VMs) that will be used for development of future services. You will build and maintain the VDI infrastructure and supporting base images. You will be responsible for implementing best practice configurations that optimize the virtual infrastructure, network, storage, and overall environment of the solution.

In this role, you will be part of a team providing solutions to technical issues related to networking, computing, and security. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving problems, performing network maintenance and operations, and ensuring that clients are satisfied with their services. You will also be responsible for documenting and communicating technical information to clients, as well as collaborating with other team members to develop and implement new solutions.

You will work with your manager to understand requirements, priorities, and objectives to ensure work supports the larger capabilities and direction of the overall solution. This includes participation in Planning, Backlog refinement and prioritization, and Retrospectives. You will participate in the full life cycle of activities including deployment and validation efforts to ensure product success and will follow all established processes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and implement VDI solutions that align with the organization's goals and requirements. This includes hardware and software components, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
• Implement and maintain security best practices for VDI
• Monitor VDI performance, identify potential issues, and recommend and implement solutions following standard release processes. Optimize infrastructure for cost-effectiveness, performance, and scalability. Identify and address performance bottlenecks and resource utilization issues.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and templates to streamline provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, DevOps engineers, and system administrators, to support application development and deployment.
• Maintain documentation of architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.

Qualifications

Required:

• Active DoD Secret clearance
• Microsoft Server Administrator Associate Certification
• 15+ Years of relevant experience (Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field may be substituted for 5 years of relevant experience).
• 5+ years’ experience setting up and managing cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure and Kubernetes
• 5+ years’ experience integrating, securing, and understanding the following Microsoft platform services (both in Windows OS and in Azure Cloud): Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS), Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS), Windows AD-integrated PKI, Single Sign On (SSO) implementation
• 5+ years’ experience in handling logs and metrics at a high scale
• 5+ years’ experience with Azure, Virtualization, Windows Servers, Window 11, M365, Networks, Storage and Active Directory
• 5+ years’ hands‑on experience creating, analyzing, and automating Linux scripts (Python, Command, Bash, C, Ansible)
• 3+ years’ cumulative experience with Hyper‑V and VMWare (implementing, managing, configuring)
• 3+ years’ cumulative experience with log management, network firewalls, and testing. Demonstrated experience tracking down root cause of a service/application failure using logs and CLI‑based tools.
• Hands on cloud migration experience
• Experience with securing systems by following STIGs, best practices, and government/compliance requirements (such as NIST 800‑53, FISMA, FEDRAMP), and negotiating/working‑with IA personnel to arrive at sensible and effective solutions
• Experience with systems administration in Linux environments (RHCE equivalence) or Windows Server environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work well under pressure
