Job summary

Thornton Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a VDC Manager to lead the companywide VDC process, coordinating across departments and business units to integrate VDC methodologies into projects and ensure alignment with goals and standards.

The role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution, guiding BIM workflows, coordinating IT and project teams, and driving continual improvement in VDC tools and practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture) or certificate program.
• 5–8 years of progressive project experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Direct experience with BIM/VDC workflows and standard software (AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, Archicad).
• Ability to lead BIM/VDC production operations and coordinate with IT, office staff and project teams.
• Proven leadership and strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Understanding of project management controls including scheduling, cost, procurement, and estimating.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead VDC strategy and coordinate with project teams to drive innovative project delivery.
• Estimate VDC budgets and schedules for designated projects.
• Identify and implement new technologies for VDC processes.
• Serve as Model Administrator and ensure subcontractor adherence to VDC guidelines.
• Develop project-specific VDC guidelines for bids and preconstruction.
• Lead clash detection and RFIs to resolve conflicts during preconstruction.
• Organize VDC coordination meetings with engineers, users, and subcontractors.
• Facilitate design-construction collaboration and ensure integration of VDC methods.
• Maintain best practices, quality standards, and risk mitigation in VDC workflows.
