Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide direct patient care across the admission-to-discharge continuum. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, with emphasis on evidence-based practice and patient education.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN, Illinois RN license, and BLS; ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain BSN within three years. ER/Peds and trauma certifications within a year are preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license with active state registration in Illinois.
• BSN preferred; ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain BSN within three years.
• ACLS, PALS/ENPC and TNCC within one year for ER roles.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Analytical skills for evaluating patient data and plans.

Responsibilities

• Assess and record patient status on admission and during care.
• Organize health data to keep a complete, accessible record.
• Identify problems needing immediate attention and escalate appropriately.
• Document diagnoses and plan of care aligned with patient goals.
• Develop and update patient plan of care with evidence-based practices.
• Provide patient and family education and discharge planning.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team for ongoing care.
• Ensure revisions to care plan are systematic and goal-driven.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

PALS/ENPC & TNCC within 1 year

Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) – preferred
