Job summary

CALFAC in Sacramento is seeking an experienced medical coder and biller with vascular procedures expertise to support doctors and scribes with accurate coding and charting guidance.

You must be proficient with 2022 CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and DRG, with 2+ years of surgical coding; CPC is a plus. This role offers remote flexibility, a collaborative team, and a path to professional growth within our vascular institutes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of medical coding experience, including surgical coding.
• Proficiency with 2022 CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10; knowledge of DRG and modifiers.
• Experience with EHR systems, especially EPIC or eCW.
• Fluency in English; strong anatomy and medical terminology knowledge.
• CPC certification is a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Research coding options for vascular procedures (lower extremities).
• Prepare summaries and assign codes for visits and surgeries.
• Assist in medical record documentation and chart preparation.
• Review charts for verification and proper sequencing per regs.
• Collaborate with doctors, scribes, schedulers on coding and denials.
