Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is hiring a Remote Certified Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery Coder to join our team. This full-time, remote position requires expertise in coding inpatient/outpatient hospital records, ED, Home Health & Hospice records and professional services using ICD-9/10 CM and CPT-4.

3-5 years of coder experience and one of the CCS/CCS-P/CPC-H/RHIT/RHIA certifications are required. Responsibilities include ensuring policy adherence, researching records across systems,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, or RHIT/RHIA with credential achieved within one year of hire.
• Three to five years of coder experience required.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient and/or outpatient hospital records, ED records, Home Health & Hospice records and/or professional fee services using ICD-9/10 CM and CPT-4.
• Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of coding multiple service areas or a specific specialty per business need.
• Review patient records and assign CPT, ICD and MS-DRG codes for reimbursement and research.
• Access multiple systems to research medical records for timely coding.
• Address accounts receivable by querying and ensuring encounters are coded properly.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal/regulatory requirements and coding updates.
• Resolve pre-bill edits and denials for assigned accounts.
• Participate in department training and stay current with coding guidelines.
