UVA Health is seeking an experienced Coding Specialist 3 to perform professional fee coding and quality reviews for complex cardiology services within an academic medical center. This remote role supports physicians and operational teams to ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and revenue cycle excellence.

Ideal candidates have CPC certification and 5+ years of coding experience, with expertise in cardiac, thoracic, vascular procedures and E/M coding.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional coding experience required.
• CPC certification required.
• Experience with cardiology, thoracic, vascular procedures and E/M coding.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient and professional services for cardiology and related procedures.
• Assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and modifiers per payor rules and regulations.
• Perform coding quality reviews and audits to improve accuracy and compliance.
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities with providers to support specificity.
• Mentor lower-level coding staff and serve as a subject matter resource.
