Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide vascular access care, device placement, and maintenance for patients. The role requires an Associate Degree in Nursing, 3 years of RN experience with peripheral IV placement, and current MD RN license with BLS.

The RN will perform PICC insertions, manage complications, educate patients and staff, and participate in quality assurance activities to ensure high-quality vascular access care.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing from an accredited school is required.
• Three years of RN experience with competence in peripheral IV placement.
• Maryland RN license current.
• BLS certification from an AHA site.
• PICCs: competency initially and annually; ALS/PALS/NRP may be required for specialty areas.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients for vascular access needs based on diagnosis, meds, history and length of stay.
• Place and manage vascular access devices; troubleshoot complications.
• Provide patient teaching on PICC care and maintenance.
• Document procedures and patient responses; communicate with physicians and care team.
• Participate in quality assurance programs to improve patient care.
