Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a Vascular Access Registered Nurse to support vascular access care in Towson, MD. The role includes insertion and maintenance of IVs, PICC lines, and related devices, with emphasis on safety and patient education.

Three years of RN experience with vascular access competence is required, along with Maryland licensure and BLS. The position offers collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Three years of RN experience with competence in peripheral IV placement.
• Current Maryland RN license and BLS certification.
• PICC insertion competency on hire and annually thereafter.
• Additional certifications (ALS, PALS, NRP) required for specialty areas.

Responsibilities

• Assess vascular access needs based on diagnosis and medications.
• Place IVs, perform phlebotomy for IV starts and extend dwell catheters.
• Place peripheral lines and PICCs; troubleshoot vascular access issues.
• Provide PICC care and patient teaching; document outcomes.
• Educate staff on vascular access and surge with unit manager as needed.
• Participate in quality audits to improve patient care.
