Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Vascular Access Clinical Specialist to advance vascular access practice and education across Fairview Home Infusion. You will lead learning programs, validate competencies, mentor staff, and collaborate with nursing leadership to raise care quality.

You will perform advanced vascular access procedures within scope, support onboarding, and promote certification in vascular access. This role is based in Shoreview, MN and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and MN RN license.
• 5 years nursing experience.
• 3 years vascular access experience.
• Experience placing, managing and troubleshooting vascular access devices.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• VA-BC or CRNI certification within 1 year.

Job Overview

The Vascular Access Clinical Specialist improves the professional practice and role competence of nurses and other healthcare personnel by facilitating ongoing learning, change, and role competence; serving as an expert vascular access clinical resource responsible for advancing vascular access practice, education, competency across Fairview Home Infusion (FHI).

Responsibilities

• Learning facilitator: Serves as a clinical subject matter expert for vascular access practice. Develops, coordinates, and delivers vascular access education programs for nursing staff and other healthcare professionals across Fairview Home Infusion.
• Change agent: Participates in quality improvement initiatives by identifying practice gaps, providing targeted education, and promoting standardization of vascular access care.
• Mentor: Provides ongoing clinical mentoring, coaching, and support to nurses to enhance vascular access knowledge, technical skills, and clinical decision-making. Supports orientation and onboarding of new clinicians by providing vascular access education, procedural training, and consultation.
• Leader: The Vascular Access Clinical Specialist supports and partners with nursing practice professionals, nursing operations, and other stakeholders with the shared goal of achieving the organization’s mission and vision.
• Advocate for Nursing Specialty: Conducts competency validation and skills assessments related to vascular access procedures, equipment, and best practices. Actively support, promote, and demonstrate nursing professional development within a nursing practice specialty, including the promotion of nursing certification.
• Collaborator: Collaborates with clinical leadership to identify educational needs and develop training resources, competency tools, and evidence-based learning materials. Assesses patients’ vascular access needs and recommends appropriate access strategies in collaboration with the patient's care team.
• Direct Patient Care: Performs advanced peripheral IV and ultrasound-guided vascular access procedures within established scope of practice and organizational standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• 5 years Nursing Experience
• 3 years Vascular Access Experience
• Experience placing, managing and troubleshooting vascular access devices
• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
• Vascular Access Certified ANCC Vascular Access Board Certification VA-BC within 1 Year or
• RN Infusion Cert Infusion Nurses Society Certification CRNI within 1 Year
• Drivers License Reliable Transportation; Valid MN Driver's License (or license that matches your current permanent residence); current and adequate automobile insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Nursing
• Recent RN experience in infusion center acute care, home care or hospice
• PICC/Midline Insertion Experience
• WI Registered Nurse (RN) License

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
