Job summary

Hill Country Christian School of Austin seeks a season coach to develop student-athletes in alignment with our Christian mission and TAPPS/CAPPS guidelines. You will model biblical character, teach sport-specific skills, and foster sportsmanship with athletes, families, and staff.

The role requires strong faith, coaching competency, conflict management in a biblically grounded way, and a commitment to safeguarding students while upholding the school's values during practices and contests.

Qualifications

• Must be a Christ-follower who upholds the school’s Core Values and Statement of Faith.
• Must faithfully attend a church whose beliefs align with the school’s Statement of Faith.
• Must be qualified to coach the sport at the appropriate level; certification preferred but not required.
• Must manage conflict in high-stress situations in a biblically grounded manner.
• Must incorporate Scripture into the athletic experience to impart a biblical worldview.

Responsibilities

• Establish and promote high Christian standards in an athletic setting.
• Promote positive and professional rapport with athletes and peers.
• CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to become certified.
• Meet TAPPS/CAPPS requirements depending on level.
• Demonstrate mastery of the sport and maintain confidence in athletes and parents.
• Coach skills to understand mastery of the sport for middle/high school.
• Plan, submit, and implement coaching practices upon request.
• Incorporate Christian faith into practices, games, and activities.
• Create a positive atmosphere during practices and games and maintain order.
• Input stats and record contests as required by athletic department.
• Participate in athlete discipline and involve parents when appropriate.
• Attend coach meetings and maintain inventory of uniforms/equipment.
• Report incidents to appropriate school officials; follow safety protocols.
• Address issues per Matthew 18 and School policies.
• Notify administration of significant discipline issues and substance concerns.
• Notify head of school, principal, and nurse in emergencies.
• Alert school officials to any behavior that poses physical risk.
• Other duties as assigned.
