Job summary

The Salvation Army in Temple, TX is seeking a Seasonal Part Time Driver to support Christmas programs. You will drive vans and light trucks, pick up gifts, transport them to the warehouse, and help coordinate drop-offs at events while maintaining safety and the integrity of donations.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, a valid Texas Driver’s License, and at least two years of driving experience.

Job Details: Job Location: TX-Temple Corps - Temple, TX 76504, Position Type: Seasonal Part Time, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Christmas, WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to assigned locations for Corps/Area Command Christmas Angel Tree program donations and gifts and/or Christmas Kettle program transportation of bell ringers to designated worksites; ensures the safety, security and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to and from assigned locations to pick up gifts and take to the Christmas warehouse and/or Corps; organizes schedule pick-ups by most direct route to arrive at destinations according to schedule.
• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to homes, agencies, churches and any other designated location to pick up gifts, stockings, etc. for delivery to the Corps.
• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to and from Drive-thru and/or drop-off events at Malls or other assigned locations.
• Maintains cleanliness of truck and/or van inside and outside.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with janitorial and general clean‑up work at the Corps, warehouse facility or assigned location as needed.
• Assists with routing of traffic, when necessary, at the Corps and/or Area Command warehouse locations during Christmas Angel Tree distribution as requested.
• Assists with setting up trees, tables and stands for Christmas display and disassembling at the end of the Christmas Season.
• Performs other related work as required.

• Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol, and organizational structure.
• Knowledge of the assigned geographic area.
• Ability to organize route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers and donors.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.

• and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
• Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing and climbing as well as lift and carry and/or push/pull moderate (25 – 50 lbs) and possibly heavy (50-100 lbs) materials and donations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is performed outside with exposure to changes in weather and outdoor conditions including dirt, dust and/or disagreeable sights and odors.
