Job summary

The Salvation Army in Georgetown, TX is seeking a Seasonal Part Time Driver for the Christmas program. You will operate non-DOT vans/trucks to transport bell ringers and gifts between corps/warehouse locations and drive to drive-thru or mall events. Work is November–December with a 30-40 hour per week schedule.

Typical duties include maintaining vehicle cleanliness, coordinating routes, and assisting with distribution activities. Valid Texas driver’s license required.

• Assists with routing of traffic at Corps and warehouse locations during Christmas Angel Tree distribution as requested.

Seasonal Position - November - December (Required orientation day and first day of work beginning second week of November)

Schedule/Hours: Mon-Saturday availability (full-time and part-time options) 30-40 hours per week - variable scheduling

JOB SUMMARY:

Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to assigned locations for Corps/Area Command Christmas Angel Tree program donations and gifts and/or Christmas Kettle program transportation of bell ringers to designated worksites; ensures the safety, security and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Drives vans to transport bell ringers to kettle work sites and picks up bell ringers at designated work site back to Corps or Area Command locations. Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to and from assigned locations to pick up gifts and take to the Christmas warehouse and/or Corps; organizes schedule pick-ups by most direct route to arrive at destinations according to schedule.
• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to homes, agencies, churches and any other designated location to pick up gifts, stockings, etc. for delivery to the Corps.
• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to and from Drive-thru and/or drop-off events at Malls or other assigned locations.
• Maintains cleanliness of truck and/or van inside and outside.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with janitorial and general clean-up work at the Corps, warehouse facility or assigned location as needed. Assists with routing of traffic, when necessary, at the Corps and/or Area Command warehouse locations during Christmas Angel Tree distribution as requested. Assists with setting up trees, tables and stands for Christmas display and disassembling at the end of the Christmas Season. Performs other related work as required.

• Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol, and organizational structure. Knowledge of the assigned geographic area. Ability to organize route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers and donors. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read and communicate the English language effectively.

• Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing duties given.
• Ability to perform general cleaning activities for building. Ability to safely transport employees in a van.
• Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
• Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing and climbing as well as lift and carry and/or push/pull moderate (25 – 50 lbs) and possibly heavy (50-100 lbs) materials and donations.

Work is performed outside with exposure to changes in weather and outdoor conditions including dirt, dust and/or disagreeable sights and odors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED And a minimum of two years driving experience.
