Job summary

The Salvation Army Temple Corps in Temple, TX is seeking a Seasonal Part Time Driver to support Christmas Angel Tree and kettle program transport needs. You will drive non-DOT vans/trucks to collect gifts, stock stockings, and transport donors and volunteers between locations while maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of driving experience, plus a Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Drive vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to pick up gifts and deliver to the Christmas warehouse or designated worksites.
• Drive to homes, churches, and other locations to collect gifts and stockings for the Christmas program.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and obey safety rules during transport.
• Assist with janitorial and general clean-up at the facility as needed.
• Assist with setting up Christmas displays and event logistics.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to assigned locations for Corps/Area Command Christmas Angel Tree program donations and gifts and/or Christmas Kettle program transportation of bell ringers to designated worksites; ensures the safety, security and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to and from assigned locations to pick up gifts and take to the Christmas warehouse and/or Corps; organizes schedule pick-ups by most direct route to arrive at destinations according to schedule.
• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to homes, agencies, churches and any other designated location to pick up gifts, stockings, etc. for delivery to the Corps.
• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to and from Drive-thru and/or drop-off events at Malls or other assigned locations.
• Maintains cleanliness of truck and/or van inside and outside.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists with janitorial and general clean-up work at the Corps, warehouse facility or assigned location as needed.
• Assists with routing of traffic, when necessary, at the Corps and/or Area Command warehouse locations during Christmas Angel Tree distribution as requested.
• Assists with setting up trees, tables and stands for Christmas display and disassembling at the end of the Christmas Season.
• Performs other related work as required.

• Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing and climbing as well as lift and carry and/or push/pull moderate (25 – 50 lbs) and possibly heavy (50-100 lbs) materials and donations.

• Work is performed outside with exposure to changes in weather and outdoor conditions including dirt, dust and/or disagreeable sights and odors.
