Job summary

The Salvation Army in Norfolk, VA is seeking a part-time seasonal driver to transport bell ringers to kettle sites and move Angel Tree donations to the warehouse. The role requires safe driving, adherence to DOT and company policies, and maintaining mileage logs. A valid driver’s license and basic English communication are required.

The position offers seasonal hours, with duties including punctual arrivals, reporting delays, and assisting with miscellaneous transport tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years’ experience operating an automotive vehicle or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides transportation for bell ringers to kettle sites and the Corps.
• Picks up Angel Tree donations and transports to warehouse, delivers items as needed.
• Drives carefully and complies with traffic signs, road/weather conditions; parks and secures vehicle when not in use.
• Fuels the vehicle per state regulations and maintains accurate mileage logs.
• Arrives on schedule, communicates delays, and ensures passenger safety and conduct.

Job Details:

Job Location: PMC-Hampton Roads Area Command - NORFOLK, VA 23502, Salary Range: $13.00 Hourly, Schedule/Hours: Seasonal; schedule and weekly hours as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides transportation for bell ringers to kettle sites and the Corps.


• Picks up Angel Tree donations from various sites for transport to the warehouse and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.


• Drives carefully and complies with traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure passenger safety; parks safely and secures the vehicle when not in use.


• Fuels the vehicle in accordance with state regulations and The Salvation Army standards and maintains accurate mileage logs.


• Arrives at destinations according to schedule, communicates severe delays, and maintains control of passenger activities to promote safe conduct.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements; read, write, and communicate in English; and drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and on extended trips. Work involves driving in varying weather conditions, including rain, cold, snow, and heat, and may involve long-distance trips or heavy traffic.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND


• Two years’ experience operating an automotive vehicle OR


• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Valid State Driver’s License


• Must meet all applicable DOT requirements for vehicles associated with this position at all times.
