Job summary

The Salvation Army in Montgomery, AL is seeking an on-site driver to transport passengers to activities and fundraising sites. The role includes picking up and delivering donated items, maintaining vehicle safety, and documenting mileage as required.

Responsibilities

• Park vehicle in a safe, clearly marked space and lock when not in use.
• Fuel vehicle per regulations and standards.
• Log mileage on standard forms and ensure accuracy.
• Arrive at destination on schedule or call ahead for delays.
• Ensure passenger conduct aligns with Christian expectations.

Job Location: ALM-Montgomery Al Corps - Montgomery, AL 36106, Salary Range: $10.00 Hourly, This position is responsible for:

• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities and/or kettle/angel tree sites; makes pick-ups and deliveries of donated items and other supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle during the Christmas season in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities or sites.
• Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items and donated goods, as needed.
• Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
• Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.
• Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
• Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.
• Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.
• Work is performed outside in a wide variety of weather conditions during. Dressing appropriately is important for comfort.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:: Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D., and
• Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle, or
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid Driver’s License
