Job summary

The Salvation Army in Gadsden, AL is seeking a dedicated driver to operate our vehicle for transporting participants to activities and kettle/angel tree sites. This role requires a valid driver’s license and a track record of safe driving.

Responsibilities include picking up and delivering donated items, logging mileage, and ensuring timely arrivals. You will follow all safety regulations and maintain professional conduct at all times while serving the community.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle
• Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities and/or kettle/angel tree sites.
• Picks-up and delivers donated items and other supplies, as needed.
• Drives carefully and follows traffic laws to ensure passenger safety.
• Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks vehicle doors when not in use.
• Fuels vehicle in accordance with state regulations and Salvation Army standards.
• Logs mileage on standard forms; maintains accuracy of the records.
• Arrives at destination on schedule or telephones ahead when delays occur.
• Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or inappropriate behavior.

Job Location: ALM-Gadsden Al Corps - Gadsden, AL 35901, Salary Range: $10.00, Job Category: Social Services, This position is responsible for:

Drives a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities and/or kettle/angel tree sites; makes pick-ups and deliveries of donated items and other supplies.

Key Responsibilities

• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle during the Christmas season in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities or sites.
• Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items and donated goods, as needed.
• Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
• Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.
• Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
• Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.
• Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.
• Work is performed outside in a wide variety of weather conditions during. Dressing appropriately is important for comfort.

• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
