Job summary

Merck invites applications for a scientific intern opportunity in the Vaccines and Advanced Biotechnologies Process R&D division. Under a project mentor, you will perform lab‑scale process development, scale‑up studies, and develop scalable cell culture processes for vaccine production.

You will assist with fermentation or cell culture, in‑process assays, technology transfer, and pilot‑scale GMP campaigns. Strong documentation and safety focus are expected.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in BS/BA in chemical/biomedical/biological engineering or closely related field.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn new techniques and manage multiple tasks.
• Proven hands‑on laboratory experience and meticulous record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab‑scale process development/scale‑up studies for vaccine production.
• Develop robust, scalable cell culture processes and support GMP campaigns.
• Coordinate materials and equipment inventories for development experiments.
• Convey results effectively in verbal and written formats; maintain safety standards.
