Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Specialist, Engineering in the Biotechnology and Solutions (BTS) team to support vaccine and biologics process development and production. You will work with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and R&D in a multidisciplinary global network, focusing on process development, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Ideal candidates have a strong foundation in biochemical/bioprocess engineering, excellent communication, and ability to collaborate across international teams.

Responsibilities

• Support bioreactor runs at small, medium and large scales.
• Execute lab experiments and assays as required.
• Organize and maintain BTS labs (5S) and inventory.
• Follow a 'Safety First' mindset in all activities.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and R&D teams.
• Occasional after-hours or weekend work to run experiments.
• Learn and apply bioprocessing principles (DOE, data analytics).
