Job Summary
The Lead Facilitator – Vacation Station assists the Program Coordinator and Assistant Program Coordinator in supervising and operating the school-age Vacation Station program at an elementary school site. This position helps ensure a safe, engaging, and high-quality program for students while supporting staff, communicating with families, maintaining records, and assisting with instructional activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising students and staff to ensure safety standards are met.
- Assist with the evaluation, development, and implementation of lesson plans aligned with program goals.
- Develop and implement appropriate lesson plans based on the needs and abilities of assigned students.
- Maintain program quality in areas including imagination, exploration, creation, communication, and recreation.
- Perform classroom instructional activities to ensure students are academically challenged.
- Assist the Coordinator with dispensing and administering medications in accordance with Francis Howell School District guidelines and requirements.
- Communicate with staff regarding student-related matters, including dismissal concerns and students who have gone home sick.
- Communicate with parents regarding incidents, accidents, and other occurrences involving their children.
- Maintain secure and accurate student attendance records and communicate schedule changes with the main office and Vacation Station Administrative Assistant.
- Open and close the Vacation Station program at the elementary site, ensuring the site is secure and provides a safe learning environment.
- Assess and report purchasing needs for supplies, snacks, and equipment.
- Utilize equipment and supply resources to identify quality products and appropriate pricing.
- Develop systems for accountability, organization, and maintenance of program materials and equipment.
- Attend meetings and workshops to gather information and share relevant information with staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficient and effective operation of the program.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of 60 college credits in a related field preferred.
Experience:
- Job-related experience is desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of instructional procedures and practices, age-appropriate student activities, safety practices and procedures, conflict resolution, and child development and behavior.
- Ability to supervise and discipline students according to approved policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and use standard office equipment and applicable software.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and diverse groups.
- Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to identify problems and develop appropriate action plans.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals and circumstances.
