Job summary

The Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks a Veterans Administration School Certifying Official (SCO) to oversee VA education benefit administration for Chapter 31 and 33 students. You will certify and monitor eligibility, maintain records, and advise students on benefit programs under the Director of Military & Veterans Programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and experience in Student Services programs.
• Bachelor’s in Education, Communication, or Pathways related field.
• One year of experience in student services, preferably advising in a community college setting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary SCO for VA education benefits (Chapter 31/33); manage certifications and reporting.
• Handle daily TA and MyCAA processing; maintain program records and assist students.
• Provide technical advising on Chapter 31, 33, TA, and MyCAA; coordinate with college partners.
• Maintain confidential student records; prepare reports and support audits.
• Coordinate with part-time SCO to ensure continuity and provide backup as needed.
