Job summary

DataAnnotation is seeking an experienced UX Web Designer - AI Trainer to evaluate how frontier AI models handle real visual design work. This contract role is based in Sandy Springs, GA (onsite), with hourly pay from $75-$125 USD, including bonus rates on some projects.

You’ll create realistic design briefs, test frontier AI design tools, and critique interfaces and outputs to compare model performance. Independent contractor with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English (native or bilingual).
• Experience in UI/UX design, web or graphic design.
• Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction, and user flow.
• Ability to explain why a design fails, not just that it does.
• Comfort using AI design tools or ability to learn quickly.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required).

Responsibilities

• Create design briefs drawing on your professional expertise for realistic UI and visual design scenarios.
• Test frontier AI design tools by running briefs and reviewing interfaces and outputs.
• Compare two model versions on identical prompts and assets and identify better performances.
• Critique model-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
• Document concrete failures with evidence: alignment, typography, spacing, overflow, SVGs, and off-brief issues.
• Contribute across software design, office and presentation design, technical illustration, and new media.

How you’ll contribute

You’ll create realistic, challenging design briefs using your own professional design judgment, then test frontier AI design tools by running those briefs and reviewing the resulting interfaces and visual outputs. The goal is to compare model performance and provide professional-level critique grounded in design standards.

• Develop design briefs drawn from your professional expertise, covering realistic UI and visual design scenarios.
• Evaluate AI outputs against the standard you would apply to a colleague’s work.
• Compare two model versions on identical prompts and assets, selecting which performed better and identifying where each fell short.
• Critique model-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
• Document concrete failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
• Contribute across software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

What you bring

• Fluency in English (native or bilingual level).
• Experience in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
• A strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
• The ability to articulate why a design fails, not only that it does.
• Comfort using AI design tools, or the ability to pick them up quickly.
• A Bachelor’s degree that is current, in progress, or completed is preferred (not required).

Contract flexibility and pay

• Choose which projects you want to work on and when.
• Work on your own schedule, using your own computer, from home.
• Hourly projects are paid up to $75-$125 USD per hour, with bonus rates available on some projects.

• No money will be requested from you.
• PayPal handles any currency conversions from USD.
• Only applicants in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States will be considered.
