Job summary

DataAnnotation is looking for an AI Trainer who can bring real-world web and UI/UX standards to frontier AI design tools. This is an onsite contract role in Tempe, AZ, where you will create realistic visual design briefs, run them through AI systems, and evaluate the resulting interfaces against professional expectations.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop challenging, realistic design briefs based on your professional expertise.
• Send those briefs through frontier AI design tools and judge the output using the quality bar you would apply to a colleague.
• Compare two model versions using identical prompts and assets, then document which performed better and where each fell short.
• Critique model-generated work including interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
• Identify and report concrete failures with evidence, such as alignment and spacing issues, content overflow or cutoff, typography problems, weak visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
• Contribute across software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

Skills and background

• Fluency in English (native or bilingual level).
• Background in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
• Strong command of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
• Ability to explain why a design fails, not only that it does.
• Comfort working with AI design tools, or the ability to pick them up quickly.
• A Bachelor’s degree (in progress, current, or completed) is preferred, not required.

• Earn $75–$125 USD per hour on an hourly basis, with bonus rates available on some projects.
