DataAnnotation is seeking an experienced UX Web Designer - AI Trainer to develop realistic design briefs and test them using frontier AI tools. You will evaluate results against UI/UX standards and provide structured critique to improve AI understanding of visual and design principles.

The role involves comparing model versions, identifying failures, and contributing to various design disciplines. Remote work is not indicated; onsite engagement is expected in this contract capacity.

DataAnnotation is seeking an experienced UX Web Designer - AI Trainer to develop realistic visual design briefs, test them using frontier AI design tools, and evaluate the results against professional UI/UX and design standards. This contract role involves structured critique and comparative assessment to help improve AI understanding of visual and design principles.

Responsibilities

• Create design briefs that are challenging and realistic, leveraging your own professional expertise.
• Run briefs through frontier AI design tools and evaluate the output according to the standard you would apply to a colleague.
• Compare two model versions using identical prompts and assets, determining which performed better and identifying where each model fell short.
• Critique model-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
• Flag concrete failures using evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
• Contribute across software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

Requirements

• Fluency in English at a native or bilingual level.
• Background in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
• Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
• Ability to explain why a design fails, not only that it fails.
• Comfort working with AI design tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• A current, in progress, or completed Bachelor’s is preferred but not required.

Location and Job Type

Location: Charlotte, NC (onsite).
Job type: Contract.

Compensation

Salary: USD 75 - 125 per hour.
