Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a UX design intern/co-op in Wilmington, MA to contribute to end-to-end design projects. You will apply user-centered design, participate in testing, and help develop the UI design system while learning from experienced designers and engineers.

The role emphasizes collaboration, problem solving, and experimenting with AI-enhanced UX approaches, with relocation support and access to transportation and housing benefits for eligible students.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in CS, HCI, UX Design or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Creative, strategic and innovative mindset with a drive to ask insightful questions about user needs.
• Strong understanding of UX design principles, information architecture, and user-centered design.
• Ability to work with ambiguous requirements and deliver results independently.
• Familiar with design tools such as Sketch, Figma or Adobe XD.
• Willing to collaborate and contribute to UX within development teams, accepting design critiques.

Responsibilities

• Apply user-centered design, Design Thinking processes, and Lean Design to create exceptional user experiences.
• Be a self-motivated member of the team, working independently and seeking guidance when necessary to complete tasks.
• Organize and facilitate user testing sessions, collaborating closely with UX Researchers, Principal and Senior designers, and development stakeholders.
• Contribute to developing and maintaining the Symbotic UI Design System.
• Own active design projects from end-to-end by creating sketches, wireframes, high-resolution UI visual designs, and Figma clickable prototypes.
• Advocate for end-users, UX Research & Design processes, usability and accessibility, and interface standards.
