Job summary

Meriwether Godsey, Inc. is seeking a Utility Steward/Dishwasher for Sweet Briar College in Amherst, VA. Positions are full-time, part-time, or temporary, with hours including days, evenings, and weekends.

Starting pay ranges from $14 to $15 per hour, with opportunities for growth in a fast-paced dining environment. Responsibilities include operating the dish machine, maintaining sanitation, and assisting in kitchen setup and meal service.

Qualifications

• Prior dishwashing experience (1 year preferred).
• Strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to switch between tasks as needed.
• Reliability and willingness to work in hot, humid environment.
• Ability to stand and lift 25 lbs. for long periods.
• Adherence to safety and sanitation procedures.
• Good communication and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the dish machine for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, trays, silverware, glassware, pots, and pans; scrape, separate, and organize items.
• Record dish-machine temperatures and report issues promptly.
• Transport supplies and assist in dining area setup.
• Clean dining and serving areas and replenish as needed to ensure service continuity.
• Set up and use a three-compartment sink for cleaning and sanitizing pots and pans.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cafeteria areas (sweeping, mopping, trash removal).
• Assist with receiving and storing food products and follow food safety procedures.
• Perform all duties under food safety and sanitation best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Meriwether Godsey is looking for Full-time, Part-time or Temporary Utility Steward/Dishwasher's at Sweet Briar College, located in Amherst, VA.

• Must be available to work as follows: Days, Evenings, & Weekends
• Pay range: $14-$15 Per Hour

What You Will Do

• Set up and operate the dish machine for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, trays, silverware, glassware, pots, and pans: scrape, separate, and organize items
• Note and record dish-machine temperatures, reporting low temperatures or machine malfunctions immediately
• Transport related supplies and assist in the setup of dining and serving areas
• Clean dining and serving areas throughout and after the meal period, and replenish to ensure service without interruption
• Set up and use a three-compartment sink for cleaning and sanitizing pots and pans
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cafeteria areas, including sweeping, mopping floors, and removal of trash
• Assist with receiving and storing food products and food preparation, following correct food handling procedures to ensure food safety
• Perform all duties under food safety and sanitation best practices
• Other duties, as assigned
