The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services is seeking an experienced, hands-on Utility Plant Operator 2 at Torrance State Hospital in Torrance, PA. The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing high‑pressure boilers and related plant equipment on a second shift.

You will monitor control systems, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to equipment issues to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Formación

• One year of semi-skilled experience operating, maintaining, or repairing industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes at least six months of this semi-skilled experience.

Responsabilidades

• Operating high‑pressure boilers and associated plant equipment.
• Monitoring gauges, displays, and control systems.
• Inspecting and maintaining pumps, motors, boilers, and auxiliary equipment.
• Diagnosing equipment problems and performing repairs or adjustments.
• Performing preventive maintenance and testing boiler water.
• Responding to equipment problems and performing emergency repairs when needed.

What You'll Do

This is skilled mechanical work in a modern high‑pressure boiler plant. You'll work independently with minimal supervision while operating, maintaining, and repairing boilers and related plant equipment.

Your work will include:

• Operating high‑pressure fire tube and water tube boilers
• Monitoring gauges, digital displays, and computerized control systems
• Inspecting and maintaining pumps, motors, boilers, and auxiliary equipment
• Diagnosing equipment problems and making repairs or adjustments
• Performing preventive maintenance
• Testing and treating boiler system water
• Responding to equipment problems and making emergency repairs when needed

Do You Qualify?

You need:

• One year of semi‑skilled experience operating, maintaining, or repairing industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes at least six months of this semi‑skilled experience.

Good to Know

• Full‑time, second shift
• Hours: 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM
• Wednesday - Sunday with Monday and Tuesday off
• This is an on‑site position at Torrance State Hospital in Torrance, PA
