Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services is seeking an experienced, hands-on Utility Plant Operator 2 at Torrance State Hospital in Torrance, PA. The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing high‑pressure boilers and related plant equipment on a second shift.

You will monitor control systems, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to equipment issues to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Qualifications

• One year of semi-skilled experience operating, maintaining, or repairing industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes at least six months of this semi-skilled experience.

Responsibilities

• Operating high‑pressure boilers and associated plant equipment.
• Monitoring gauges, displays, and control systems.
• Inspecting and maintaining pumps, motors, boilers, and auxiliary equipment.
• Diagnosing equipment problems and performing repairs or adjustments.
• Performing preventive maintenance and testing boiler water.
• Responding to equipment problems and performing emergency repairs when needed.
