Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Utility Accounts Payable role within Facilities Administration to manage university-wide utility invoices and payments. You will work under the Assistant Director of O&M and Utilities and support the Financial Specialist in AiM, Banner, and RealSource platforms.

The position requires attention to detail, GAAP knowledge, and solid accounting experience. It is fully onsite with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounting, auditing, payable/receivable, and/or reconciling expenditures
• Strong knowledge of accounting and/or auditing is required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Practical knowledge of GAAP
• Experience compiling, analyzing, and presenting reports and budgets
• Attention to detail and ability to execute financial transactions accurately
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Commitment to respect and civility with diverse stakeholders at the university

Responsibilities

• Record invoice AiM utility module—entering utility bills (SOP)
• Track and report missing utility invoices monthly
• Assist in meter setup/update for new, transfer, or terminated services
• Maintain online accounts with utility vendors to ensure timely retrieval of needed invoices/statements
• Scan documents to SharePoint for utilities
• Assist in submitting copies of invoices to 3rd party vendor
• Process payments for all utility invoices per University policy and procedures
• Track and record vendor check information
• Elevate all vendor payment discrepancies
• Assist in researching payment disputes
• Assist in maintaining and updating SOPs and ARMICS
• Assist in developing ad hoc AiM utility reports
• Assist in special projects for Financial Services
• Attend sub-committee meetings for AiM procedures as needed
