Job summary

Gehl Foods, LLC is seeking a Safety-minded Utility Operator for the 2nd shift (2pm–10:30pm) in Walterboro, SC. Base pay is $21/hour with shift differential, plus on-demand pay and a full benefits package.

You will work with cross-functional production teams, set up lines, train teammates, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate real-time paperwork. We offer quarterly bonuses up to 5% of wages, PTO, 401(k) match, and growth opportunities within a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a food, process, high-speed packaging or Form-Fill-Seal industry.
• Previous forklift experience.
• Technical knowledge of aseptic processes, equipment and products.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional production teams and cover multiple lines.
• Set up hooks and line configurations for starting operations.
• Organize and execute rework.
• Ensure line communication boards are updated in real time.
• Train new team members on line operation and sampling requirements.
• Troubleshoot production issues and inform Supervisor.
• Safely operate forklift to supply necessary production materials.
• Audit line staff paperwork for accuracy and real-time completion.

What You’ll Do

• Work with cross functional production teams and provide coverage to various lines or processes
• Makes proper hook-ups and line set-up activities for starting and operating lines
• Organizes and executes rework
• Ensure line communication boards are filled out
• Trains new team members on-line operation, including equipment and control system operation, documentation and sampling requirements
• Responsible for troubleshooting and communicating production issues to Supervisor
• Safely operates a forklift in order to keep assigned work area supplied with necessary production materials
• Audits line staff’s paperwork to ensure paperwork is filled out accurately and in real time

What You’ll Need

• 3 years of manufacturing experience, ideally in a food, process, high-speed packaging or Form-Fill-Seal industry
• Previous forklift experience
• Technical knowledge of aseptic processes, equipment and products
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to interpret, communicate and execute plans or instructions in a time sensitive manner with limited direction and resources
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment (stand for 8+ hours and lift up to 55 lbs)
• Team-player mindset who shows up on time and ready to work
