Job summary

RECONN is seeking a dedicated Utility Inspection Technician to inspect gas meters for leaks and corrosion, document findings, and report issues promptly. You’ll work outdoors in Boston, MA, with a focus on safety and accuracy.

New technicians start at $24–$32 per hour, with progression to $25 on qualification and $26 after 1 year. The role includes full training, a company vehicle, and career development within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Able to read a utility map and use simple hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Inspect gas meters for leaks and corrosion; complete required paperwork.
• Identify abnormal operating conditions and report them to the supervisor.
• Attend on-site training and work shifts as scheduled; overtime possible.

This includes visual inspection and ensuring all required paperwork/data are completed. Meter Inspection Technicians will be required to report to their respective work area on time at the start of each shift. While on-site, the technician will be responsible for identifying any abnormal operating conditions along with accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (the form may be electronic or paper).These are daytime, full-time positions and overtime may be required. Instructor-led training will be provided.
