Job summary

USIC is seeking an Advanced Locate Technician to safely locate underground utilities and document findings in a fast-paced environment. You will use company devices to mark routes, fill out locate tickets, and communicate clearly with homeowners, contractors, and team members.

Requirements include at least 1 year of utility locating experience, ability to work outdoors in all weather, a valid driver's license, and the willingness to travel locally with possible overnight trips.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of utility locating experience.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license with safe driving record.
• Able to travel locally and some overnight travel may occur.
• Must pass a drug screen in this safety-sensitive role.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities safely and accurately.
• Mark locations and complete required paperwork.
• Document each locate using company devices.
• Interact with customers, contractors, and homeowners as needed.

This includes taking time to thoroughly search for all underground utilities in an area, properly marking the location, completing the necessary paperwork, and documenting each locate. Previous outdoor experience is a plus.Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected.Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position).Valid driver's license and a safe driving recordAble to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.Proficiency with technology.Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints; possess basic math skill to calculate distances.Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
