Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale Horizontal Directional Drilling Foreman to lead field crews on trenchless conduit installations across the United States. This field leadership role plans, coordinates, and executes HDD operations with a focus on safety, quality, and schedule while mentoring crew members.

The Foreman will supervise bore planning, drill setup, pilot bores, reaming, conduit installation, and crossings, coordinating with Superintendents and Project Managers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of HDD/underground utility or heavy civil construction experience.
• Minimum 2 years as HDD Foreman leading field crews.
• Strong knowledge of bore planning, pilot bores, reaming, drill fluids, conduit installation, and utility crossings.
• Experience operating or supervising HDD rigs, mud systems, vacuum excavation equipment, locating equipment.
• Ability to read project drawings, bore profiles, utility locates, and construction specifications.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and work extended hours as project schedules require.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily HDD operations for utility-scale projects.
• Plan daily work assignments and coordinate crews, drilling equipment, materials, and sub-contractors.
• Read and interpret project drawings, bore profiles, and construction documents.
• Coordinate setup, pilot bores, reaming, conduit installation, pullback, and utility crossings.
• Ensure safety, quality, and adherence to project specs.
• Monitor production, manpower, equipment utilization, and project progress.
• Train and develop crew members into future leaders.
