Job summary

City of Lakeland is seeking a part-time Customer Service Representative II to assist utility customers by phone and in person, handling billing questions, processing transactions, and maintaining account accuracy.

You will enter data into the Billing System, respond to requests and complaints, and support overtime or alternate hours as needed. Knowledge of debt collection and customer service best practices is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of public contact work in sales or customer service.
• Three years of public contact work in sales or customer service, with two years in a utility setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with any reasonable request for utility service.
• Enter customer information accurately and efficiently.
• Perform advanced research of customer information and credit inquiries.
• Respond to and resolve customer concerns.
• Explain utility bills and rates clearly.
• Process billings and prepare rereads or tests as needed.
• May perform timekeeper duties.
• May participate in training to support departmental initiatives.
• Overtime or alternate hours may be required for department efficiency.
