Job summary

HDR's Transportation Business Group in Charleston/Columbia, SC seeks a Utility EIT/Design Coordinator to support utility coordination on civil projects. You will assist with utility research, plan production, field coordination, and QA/QC under a licensed PE.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Engineering, EIT, and hands-on experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, Open Roads Designer, Civil3D, ArcGIS, and Bluebeam. HDR champions an employee-owned culture and community impact.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field.
EIT certificate is preferred; candidates without EIT will be placed in a Design Coordinator role and encouraged to obtain EIT.
Two years of related experience in Transportation/Roadway/Utility.
Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; familiarity with Bentley/Autodesk road design suites.
Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to read civil plans and utility documents.

Responsibilities

Utility Coordination – assist with coordination between project team and utility owners.
Utility Research – perform records research and compile contact lists.
Utility Investigation – coordinate SUE investigations as needed.
Utility Conflict Resolution – identify conflicts and support mitigation through design or relocation.
Utility Design – assist with wet/dry utility design for civil improvements.
Utility Plan Production – help produce civil plans, specs, and exhibits.
Utility Field Coordination – work with owners and construction teams during relocations.
Project Team Coordination – support QA/QC and align with client needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
