Job summary

HDR is a leading engineering firm committed to inclusive, employee‑owned collaboration across transportation projects. The Utility EIT/Coordinator will support utility coordination, research, investigation, design and field activities to ensure safe, efficient civil infrastructure solutions.

You will work with project teams to identify conflicts, prepare exhibits, and coordinate with utility owners during relocations, contributing to high‑quality deliverables and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field.
• EIT certificate preferred; those without may be placed into a Design Coordinator path for career progression.
• Two years of related experience in Transportation/Roadway/Utility.
• Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; familiarity with Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil3D.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS and Field Maps; PDF editing tools like Bluebeam or Adobe.

Responsibilities

• Utility Coordination – assist with coordination between project team and utility owners to identify and mitigate risk.
• Utility Research – perform utility records research and develop contact lists.
• Utility Investigation – coordinate SUE investigations by HDR and subconsultants.
• Utility Conflict Resolution – identify conflicts and assist with resolution.
• Utility Design – assist engineers with wet and dry utilities design for proposed improvements.
• Utility Plan Production – help prepare client deliverables and exhibits.
• Utility Field Coordination – work with utility owners during relocations.
• Overall Project Team Coordination – assist to meet client needs and objectives.
• Quality – follow QA/QC guidelines for plans, specs, and estimates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
