Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies is seeking a skilled Utility Equipment Operator to operate specialized construction equipment, drill holes, and set power line poles on site in New Mexico. The role requires CDL when operating on public roads and NCCER certifications in Heavy Equipment Operations, Rigger, and Site Layout.

You will follow safety procedures, read and interpret plans, and collaborate with the crew to produce high-quality results while maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Multiple years of working experience as an equipment operator and a strong working knowledge of the operating and rigging crafts is required.
• A copy of the executed Medical Examiner's Certificate must be on file before any operation begins.
• Commercial driver's license is required when the equipment will be operated on public roads.

Responsibilities

• Operate one or several types of specialized Utility construction equipment (e.g. derrick digger, rope rig, tensioners) to drill holes and set power line poles.
• Drive equipment on public roads and coordinate with crew to meet safety standards.
• Participate in safety programs, report incidents, and support hazard mitigation on site.
• Read plans and specifications; lay out, install and inspect equipment as required by contract.
• Provide on‑the‑job training to helpers and ensure work meets plans and industry standards.
