Job summary

City of New Bern seeks a skilled billing support specialist to handle utility service billing, data entry, and related tasks. The role emphasizes accuracy in meter reads, service order processing, and Excel-based account adjustments, under supervision of the Billing Services Supervisor.

The position requires knowledge of billing terminology, basic math, and proficiency with Excel; familiarity with AMI, CIS, GIS and related software is a plus. On-site work in New Bern, NC is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Major coursework in business or related field at an accredited community college.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Some experience in billing data entry and computers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Downloads AMI meter readings and uploads to CIS.
• Analyzes meter readings for accuracy and completeness.
• Processes rereads and closes out service orders.
• Processes Start/Stop service orders and checks for accuracy.
• Process inspection releases and dispatches to service crews.
• Processes utility bill archiving.
• Prepares and processes account adjustments using Excel.
• Utilizes Microsoft Office, AMI, CIS, Mobile 311, GIS, etc.
• Maintains on-call status during emergencies.
