Job summary

Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a full-time billing support specialist in Fayetteville, GA. You will handle customer account setup, final bill processing and assist in customer care operations.

Typical duties include creating new service accounts, recording meter changes, directing field technicians, handling inquiries and maintaining email correspondence for Water System customers. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• 1- to 2-year experience in a similar position or completion of an apprenticeship/internship.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Completes specialized analytical functions in utility billing software for creating new service location accounts, new customer records and assigns utility billing service coding and final bill accounts.
• Inputs new meter installation and meter change-out records and ensures accurate billing with proper charge codes and maintains meter records for annual audit.
• Directs field technicians on customer support requests, restores service, hydrant flushing and meter installations; documents service orders for accuracy.
• Answers customer calls and handles inquiries about balances, consumption, new service, termination requests and other account changes.
• Maintains Water System customer care email correspondence.
• Inputs account name changes, billing address changes, e-bill requests and delivery method updates for accurate water bill delivery.
• Issues unmetered water permits, maintains water usage records and tracks outstanding permits.
• Posts daily meter readings in final bill process for terminated accounts.
• Assists with bulk mail processing and other mailroom tasks related to utility billing.
