Job summary

Evonik in the United States is seeking a Utilities Operator to support site service utilities, including boilers up to 400# and various water systems, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

The role requires 12-hour shifts (days/nights) and provides opportunities to lead shift operations, mentor teammates, and collaborate with technical support to improve processes and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification or training in boiler operation, HVAC, and/or water treatment.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA).
• Experience with preventative maintenance systems.
• Willingness to work 12-hour shifts (days/nights).

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain utility systems including boilers, compressors, water systems, chillers, and cooling towers.
• Lead shift operations, mentoring other operators and SME responsibilities.
• Collaborate with technical support to improve processes and update procedures.
• Support internal customers and ensure smooth operations across departments.
• Drive yield, reduce costs, and minimize waste in plant operations.
• Troubleshoot complex operational issues and ensure compliance with quality standards (SISPQ).
• Enforce ESHS procedures and participate in safety initiatives and training.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and act as a resource in the department.
