Job summary

Evonik is seeking an Utilities Plant Engineer to provide leadership and technical expertise for capital projects and critical site utility systems. The role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, ESHS, and Project teams to improve reliability, infrastructure performance, and plant efficiency.

You will lead projects from scope through startup, support strategic site initiatives, and ensure compliant, safe operation of site services utilities across steam, water, HVAC, and power

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in plant engineering, manufacturing engineering, utilities, maintenance, reliability, or capital projects.
• Exposure to managing engineering projects (design, construction, commissioning, startup).
• Familiarity with utility systems (steam, water, HVAC, power distribution).
• Experience in regulated industrial operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital projects from scope through design, construction, commissioning, qualification and startup.
• Provide engineering support to strategic site projects (design reviews, technical evaluations, commissioning, startup).
• Manage project budgets, schedules, contractors, vendors, and engineering documentation for successful execution.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support for utility systems (steam, water, HVAC, power distribution).
• Troubleshoot equipment and system issues; perform root-cause analyses; implement reliable improvements.
• Develop and enhance maintenance and reliability strategies to optimize performance and asset lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure safety, quality, environmental, and engineering standards compliance.
• Provide technical leadership and support engineering best practices and asset management.
