Job summary

Village of Palm Springs is seeking an Utilities Crew Leader to supervise a crew in maintaining water distribution and wastewater collection systems. You will assign daily tasks, monitor safety, and coordinate with other crews to meet deadlines.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, three years in utility maintenance, and relevant licenses. Expect outdoor work, occasional on-call shifts, and heavy equipment operation as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 3 years of utility maintenance experience.
• Florida DEP Level 3 Water Distribution License or approved wastewater/vacuum certification.
• Florida Class B CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of utilities facilities.
• Issues, assigns, completes, and closes out work orders.
• Inspects and oversees maintenance of equipment and tools.
• Conducts safety meetings with crews.
• Prepares reports and maintains records.
• Organizes daily tasks and reviews job completion with crews.
• Plans long-term maintenance including valve exercising and hydrant flushing.
• Coordinates work with other crews to meet deadlines.
• Assists in training and enforces safety and quality workmanship.
• Operates light/heavy construction equipment (vacuum excavators, backhoes, trucks, loaders).
• Monitors trench shoring and confined spaces.
• Plans restoration of projects including landscaping and asphalt.
• Ensures traffic control measures are used.
• Determines equipment/material needs for jobs.
• Performs routine on-call shifts.
• Other duties as assigned.
