Job summary

City of Temple is seeking a Utilities Crew Leader to supervise and coordinate utility crews, ensure safety compliance, and maintain water and wastewater infrastructure. You will handle planning, materials, and equipment for work orders while guiding crew members in daily tasks.

The role requires leadership experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and appropriate licenses (CDL with Tanker Endorsement; TCEQ Water Distribution and WWC II). This is a on-site position serving Temple, TX.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train assigned crew members.

• Perform duties of a Utility Technician as needed.
• Adhere to City policies and procedures.

Job description

Summary

Utilities Crew Leader, under the general supervision of the Foreman, leads the field work of utility crews; completes utility crew paperwork; operates heavy equipment; installs, maintains, and repairs water & wastewater infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides supervision and training for assigned crew members
• Plans, coordinates, and orders the necessary parts, supplies, and equipment for assigned work orders
• Inspects all equipment before use and reports problems to supervisor or to fleet maintenance
• Ensures that all safety policies are adhered to, safety equipment inspected and used, and that PPE is properly utilized
• Prepares work orders, documenting parts, hours, equipment used and all other pertinent data in the work order management system
• Performs all duties of a Utility Technician as needed
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience in Utilities or related field
• Demonstrated leadership skills

Certifications and Licenses

• Valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement upon hire or advancement
• TCEQ License C Water Distribution and WasteWater Collection II upon hire.
