Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, G.E.D., or foreign education equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of water, sewer, and stormwater systems and roadways.
• Water Distribution Level 3 or higher license is required.
• CDL - Class B or higher with Air Brakes with acceptable driving record (within 1 year of hire).
• Veterans' Preference documentation as per Florida statutes (DD214, disability docs) if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Leads and performs digging, trenching, and repairs for water mains, sewers, and stormwater lines.
• Operates and maintains equipment and tools for the area of assignment.
• May perform construction-related duties (carpentry, masonry, concrete, tiling) and operate related vehicles.
• Can lead/assist in operation of heavy equipment and road maintenance.
• May serve as assistant to higher chiefs and perform duties in their absence.
• Performs Utilities Serviceworker duties and maintains clean work areas.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
• Estimates material needs and procures materials and supplies.
• Reads drawings, maps, and utilities atlas; uses asset management systems.
