Job summary

Benesch is hiring a Bridge Project Engineer in Utah to work on vehicular, pedestrian, and transportation-related bridge structures across the project life cycle. The role offers exposure to planning, design, construction, and in-service phases, with opportunities to mentor junior staff and advance technical leadership.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering and/or Structural Engineering or related discipline, MS is a plus.
• PE License in Utah or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
• 5 to 10+ years of bridge design experience.
• Experience working with UDOT and/or municipalities.
• Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules.
• Proven experience performing complex analysis and design.
• Ability to assemble a complete design package and construction documents for assigned elements or projects.
• Proven experience with various structural design and analysis software; Leap Bridge, LUSUS, Midas, and OpenBridge a plus
• Excellent communication and client relation skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Digital delivery and alternate delivery experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead engineer on a variety of bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects
• Mentor junior staff and assist with the growth and development of the structural staff
• Prepare and review structural and geometrical calculations for bridge design projects
• Assume responsibility for assigned design calculation files and plans assuring adequate independent QC reviews on that work
• Manage the process of compiling and coordinating plans, specifications, cost estimates and pay items per DOT standards
• Coordinate the above tasks with the Project Manager
• Lead structural designers on bridge design and rehabilitation projects
